Bighugelabs.com

I chose these images because they are things I have a passion for and love. I liked this website, because it was quick and easy to create what you wanted and save it. As far as disliking the program, there could have probably been a few more options of things to do but otherwise it was great.

QR Codes

Using QR codes for the first time, I learned how easily you can link others to what you want them to see. It is an effective way to explore websites quickly. I have used QR codes when scanning for a coupon with the FrontFlip app on my phone. I love using it because I get an opportunity to quickly scan and have a chance to win coupons before paying for my item, saving me money.

TED Talk: All Kinds of Minds

A lady with schizophrenia shares her experiences. When she is psychotic she has the delusion that she has killed 100 of thousands of people with her thoughts. Its like having a nightmare while you're awake. "Word Salad" when thoughts and words get mixed up, comprehensible. She wrote down her experiences. She has been hospitalized 3 times for her schizophrenia. She had an episode, and was sent to the hospital. She was slammed on a metal table(so hard she saw stars), then strapped down with leather restraints. She was restrained, which is a terrible experience. She is pro-psychiatry, but against restraints. She was trying to get off medication, to prove she wasn't mentally ill and it was just a terrible mistake. She gets excellent treatment, multiple times a week, for many years and many to come.

TED talk. Why do we sleep?

Sleeping at night enhances your creativity and allows you to learn. If you don't sleep, you don't "fly". Teenagers need 9 hours of sleep for brain performance, and many are just getting 5 hours, which is not enough. 31% of drivers fall asleep while driving at least one point in their life. When you don't get enough sleep, you resort to other things such as caffeine or alcohol. Those who sleep 5 hours or less each night are 50% more likely to be obese. To get to sleep: 1) dark room 2) turn off electronics 3) try not to drink caffeine after lunch. Myth: Old people need less sleep. Sleep disruption precedes mental dispositions. Sleep disruption can make a mental illness worse. If you have good sleep it increases your concentration, attention, decision making, and health.
